Advanced module 16 "Practical seminar on special education diagnostics and support"

Nature of the test
A portfolio is planned as a module final examination. It is an individual performance. The joint creation of a portfolio is not permitted.

Formal and content-related examination requirements

The portfolio to be compiled is a product portfolio, i.e. the documentation of learning content is in the foreground.

A very good portfolio is characterized by the fact that the diagnostics and support carried out are optimally suited to the students, and any difficulties that arise can be identified and reflected upon. Whether this is the case depends on how well the procedure can be justified with the relevant empirical findings. In order to clarify the procedure in the context of the promotion, it is useful to provide the portfolio with an appendix (there is no guideline regarding the number of pages of the appendix).

Structure and scope of the portfolio

The work assignment includes the preparation of a research paper on a specific topic. The paper should have the following structure:

  • Abstract (approximately 0.5 page)
  • Presentation of the diagnostic starting point
  • Evaluation of diagnostic tests (e.g. ELFE II or IDS-2)
  • Abnormalities during the performance of the diagnostic tests
  • Derived support measures
  • Elements and materials of the support
  • Progress of the support in the form of a table of all session units
  • Objective summary of the support
  • Subjective interpretation of the support
  • Limitations of the promotion
  • Outlook: What should be the next steps after the completion of the promotion?

The research should test the students' ability to critically reflect on diagnostic and promotion processes and their implementation in practice. In doing so, students should be able to interpret the results of diagnostic tests and derive adequate support measures. They should be able to document and analyze the course of the support and to give an objective summary and subjective interpretation of the support. Finally, they should be able to name limitations and give an outlook for further support.

Period of the examination
The portfolio is to be prepared in the period between the start of the course and a fixed deadline at the end of the semester.

Aim of the examination
By preparing a portfolio, students should demonstrate that they have achieved the competencies described in the Module Handbook.

Prerequisite for participation in the examination
In order to be able to participate in the examination, both courses of the module must have been successfully completed in advance.

Registration modalities for the exam

The registration is done via Klips 2.0, please pay attention to the corresponding deadlines. If you do not want to or cannot hand in your portfolio in time after your registration, you must cancel your registration via Klips 2.0 up to two weeks before the respective examination date. A mail to the secretary's office or the lecturer does not replace the cancellation via Klips 2.0. After the two weeks have expired, a cancellation without a valid reason (e.g. illness) is no longer possible. In this case, failure to pass the exam will be considered a failed attempt. If the examination cannot be taken for a valid reason, the Examination Office must be immediately sent a confirmation of the reason for the cancellation (e.g. medical certificate). Send your confirmation exclusively to the Examination Office. Only the Examinations Office can confirm the withdrawal with good reason and withdraw your registration. Furthermore, the examiners must be informed of the withdrawal by e-mail.

Procedure of the examination
The portfolio will be created on the basis of these notes and some additional information provided during the two module sessions. In addition, it is possible for students to discuss their plans with the lecturer during a specially arranged consultation appointment.

Criteria for evaluating the examination
Evaluation criteria are (1) the completeness of the editing, (2) the empirical soundness of the units, (3) the arrangement and design of the contents, (4) the originality of the editing, (5) the quality of the materials and (6) the external form of the document.

Communication of the examination result

The score can be viewed in KLIPS 2.0 approximately one month after the end of the submission.

Value of the exam
The module grade for the overall grade is 6/18.

Possibilities of repeating the examination
The examination can be repeated twice.
