Examination element 1
The exam is a written assignment which is based on the seminars "Language instruction at primary level" and "Mathematics at primary level". The students pick a relevant topic which could be successful as a research paper. The assignment follows the guidelines that has been uploaded to ILIAS.
Examination element 2
The topic for the term paper is assigned in the first session. The guidelines include citation according to the international APA standards, a volume of 15 pages excluding literature, adherence to deadlines and consultation with the lecturers.
Period of the exam
The deadline for this assignment can be checked on Klips 2.0. A re-examination is possible at the end of term.
Aim of the exam
Through the written assignment, factual knowledge is tested. The students should show their knowledge with regard to the content that has been imparted in the courses of the focus module.
Prerequisite for participation in the exam
In order to participate in the module's final exam, both courses of the focus module 1 must be taken and the required credit points must have been achieved.
Registration and deregistration modalities for the examination
The registration is done via Klips 2.0, please pay attention to the corresponding deadlines. If you do not want to or cannot take the exam after you have registered, you must cancel your registration via Klips 2.0 up to two weeks before the respective exam date. An e-mail to the secretary's office or the lecturer does not replace the cancellation via Klips 2.0. Two weeks prior to the exam cancellation without a valid reason (e.g. illness) is no longer possible. Failure to attend the examination will be considered a failed attempt. If the examination cannot be taken for a good reason, the Examination Office must immediately be sent a confirmation of the reason for the cancellation (e.g. medical certificate). Send your confirmation exclusively to the Examination Office. Only the Examinations Office can confirm the withdrawal with good reason and withdraw your registration. Furthermore, the examiners must be informed of the withdrawal by e-mail.
Procedure of the examination
On the day of the deadline, the written assignment has to be handed in via Sciebo. The following steps have to be followed:
1. Create a PDF that includes all the neccessary documents.
2. Title the PDF in the following format: last name_ first name_SM1_specialization_maths (or language).pdf
3. Open the link that has been sent to you beforehand.
4. Type in the password that has been sent to you beforehand.
5. Upload the PDF to Sciebo.
6. Once the upload is finished, you should get the following confirmation:
"Uploaded document: last name_first name_SM1_specialization_maths (or language).pdf"
Please make sure, that all of the steps have been followed and the PDF is uploaded before the deadline ends. Otherwise the assignment can't be graded.
Criteria for the evaluation of the exam
Points are awarded for the completion of the tasks. Grading is carried out in accordance with the grading scale of the "[...] Examination Regulations of the University of Cologne for the Master of Education, Teacher Training for Special Educational Needs".
Notification of examination results
You can find out your examination result via KLIPS 2.0, where the grades are usually entered during the semester break or, at the latest, at the beginning of the lecture period of the following semester. You will be given the opportunity to inspect the exams. The corresponding dates for inspection are published under "News". However, this is only possible after prior registration at jennifer.karnes@uni-koeln.de. This must be done at the latest one week after the announcement of the examination results and must contain the following information: Name, matriculation number, module/MAP identification and desired date (Wednesday or Friday).
Value of the examination
The significance of the module grade for the overall grade is 9/27.
Possibilities of repeating the examination
The examination can be repeated twice.
