Formal and content requirements
Examination element 1
The written assignment is prepared in the seminars of the module. Students choose a topic suitable for a successful piece of research and write the assignment in accordance with the formal and content requirements set out in the guidelines on ILIAS.
Examination element 2
The topic of the term paper is assigned in the first session. Requirements include citation according to APA standards, a length of 15 pages excluding references, meeting the deadlines and consultation with the lecturers.
Examination period
The assignment is due on the examination date listed in KLIPS 2.0. A resit is possible during the lecture-free period.
Aim of the examination
The examination assesses in-depth knowledge of the focus module. Students demonstrate that they have understood the central content of the courses.
Prerequisites for participation
To take the module examinations, students must have attended both courses of Focus Module 1 and completed the required workload.
Registration and deregistration (examination and term paper)
You register for the examination exclusively via KLIPS 2.0 within the specified deadlines. If, after registering, you do not wish to or cannot take the examination, you must deregister via KLIPS 2.0 no later than two weeks before the examination date. An e-mail to the secretary's office or to the lecturers does not replace deregistration via KLIPS 2.0. After this deadline, deregistration is no longer possible without a valid reason (e.g. illness); failure to attend will then be counted as a failed attempt. If you cannot take the examination for a valid reason, you must immediately send the Examinations Office a document stating the reason (e.g. a medical certificate). Send this document exclusively to the Examinations Office; only the Examinations Office can confirm a withdrawal for a valid reason and cancel your registration. In addition, please inform the examiners of your withdrawal by e-mail.
Submission procedure
On the submission date (the examination date in KLIPS 2.0), submit your assignment as a PDF file as described in the ILIAS course. Please follow these steps:
- Create a PDF file containing your complete assignment.
- Name the file as follows: Lastname_Firstname_SM1_Vertiefung_Mathe.pdf (or …_Sprache.pdf).
- Open the link you have been sent.
- Enter the password you have been sent.
- Upload the PDF file to Sciebo.
- Once the upload is complete, Sciebo displays the message “Hochgeladene Dateien: Lastname_Firstname_SM1_Vertiefung_Mathe.pdf”.
Please follow all steps carefully and submit your assignment before the deadline. Late submissions cannot be accepted.
Assessment criteria
Points are awarded for the examination tasks. Grading follows the grading scale of the Examination Regulations of the University of Cologne for the Master of Education, Teacher Training for Special Educational Needs.
Notification of results
You will be informed of your result via KLIPS 2.0. Grades are usually posted during the lecture-free period and no later than the beginning of the lecture period of the following semester. You may inspect your marked examination; dates are announced in the news. Inspection requires prior registration no later than one week after the results are published. Please state your name, matriculation number, module/MAP code and preferred date (Wednesday or Friday).
Weighting
The module grade counts 9/27 towards the overall grade.
Resits
The examination can be repeated twice.
