. We are pleased that you are visiting us and cordially invite you to learn more about our mission and activities on our website. We are a team of approximately 190 staff members across 27 departments at one of Europe’s largest centers for special education teaching and research.

Through our research and teaching in the Department of Special Education and Rehabilitation, we pursue the goals

    • to convey and examine the life situations of people with disabilities and those in precarious and disadvantaged circumstances,

    • to develop measures and models for education, prevention, therapy, and rehabilitation for and by people with impairments or disabilities, as well as for society,

    • and to provide appropriate training for professionals in both school-based and non-school-based settings.

The DHR’s degree programs include the bachelor’s and master’s programs in Special Education Teaching, as well as the non-school-based bachelor’s programs in German Sign Language Interpreting, Special Education, Speech Therapy, and Early Intervention, and the master’s programs in Rehabilitation Sciences and Health Services Science.
