Welcome to the Department of Psychology’s website
The Department of Psychology at the University of Cologne is one of Germany’s leading research and educational institutions. A particular focus is placed on the close integration of basic, methodological, and applied disciplines; this is reflected in both research and teaching.
Here you will find information about research and study programs at the Department of Psychology.
Starting in the winter semester 23/24, two new master’s programs in psychology will be offered:
- The "M.Sc. Psychology" program allows students to deepen the academic qualifications in psychology acquired with their first professional degree (Bachelor of Psychology) by developing advanced research and applied skills. Students can choose specializations in the areas of "Cognitive Psychology," "Judgment and Decision Making," and "Social and Economic Behavior."
- The master’s program “M.Sc. Psychology with a Specialization in Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy” can be completed with the licensing examination for psychotherapists.
- The versatile B.Sc. in Psychology was updated and reaccredited for the 2023–2024 winter semester. It offers a strong common foundation in basic, applied, and methodological subjects and two possible specializations in the applied field: “Psychology” and “Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy.”
