Focus module 3 "Didactics of teaching in secondary education"

Nature of the test
The examination is a written paper.

Formal and content-related examination requirements

The students of seminars SM3.1 and SM3.2 are required to select a suitable topic each, which they wish to delve into throughout the semester. The topics should be appropriate to ensure successful research work. Further guidelines can be found in the manual available on ILIAS.

Examination Period

The paper will be submitted on the exam day deposited in Klips. The rewrite exams are taken during the lecture-free period and usually in the last two weeks of the semester.

Aim of the examination

The examination tests the students' in-depth knowledge of the core module. The students should show that they have understood the central contents of the courses SM3.1 and SM3.2.

Prerequisite for participation in the examination

In order to participate in the final module examinations, both courses of the focus modules 1 and 3 must have been attended and the required workload must have been completed.

Registration and deregistration for the examination

You can register for the exam via Klips 2.0. Please pay attention to the corresponding deadlines. If you do not want to or cannot take part in the exam after your registration, you must deregister via Klips 2.0 up to two weeks before the respective exam date. An e-mail to the secretary's office or the lecturer does not replace the deregistration via Klips 2.0. After the expiry of the two weeks, deregistration is no longer possible without a valid reason (e.g. illness). In this case, a failure to appear for the examination will be considered a failed attempt. If the exam cannot be taken for a valid reason, a confirmation stating the reason for the cancellation (e.g. medical certificate) must be sent to the Examinations Office immediately. Send your confirmation exclusively to the Examinations Office. Only the Examinations Office can confirm the withdrawal with good cause and withdraw your registration. In addition, the examiners must be informed of the withdrawal by e-mail.

Your examination time will be extended by the specified number of days of illness if you submit a medical certificate to the relevant Examinations Office.

Procedure of the examination

On the day of the exam for which you have registered via KLIPS, you will submit your portfolio, which you have written as described in the Iliaskurs. Please follow the steps below to submit your portfolio:

  • Create a PDF file that contains all the contents of the portfolio.
  • Name the PDF file in the following format: last_first_name_AM16.pdf.
  • Open the link that was sent to you.
  • Enter the password that was sent to you.
  • Upload the PDF file to Sciebo.
  • Once the upload is complete, you should see the following text in your browser window on Sciebo: "Uploaded files: Last_First_Name_SM3.pdf".

Criteria for scoring the exam

Points will be awarded for completing the assignments. The grading is done according to the grading system of the "[...] Examination Regulations of the University of Cologne for the Master of Education, Teacher Training for Special Education".

Notification of examination results

You will be informed of your examination results via KLIPS 2.0, where the grades are usually posted during the lecture-free period (at the latest, however, at the beginning of the lecture period of the following semester).

Value of the examination

The significance of module grade for the overall grade is 6/18.

Possibilities of repeating the examination

The examination can be repeated twice.
