E-Exams & Digital Examinations

The Network Media department provides computer pools to the faculty institutions of the HF for the administration of e-exams under specific conditions. We work in close cooperation with the Examinations Projects Center (EPC) at the University of Cologne.

For examination dates, the PCs in our pools are configured to launch in a secured environment. Students are prevented from accessing external applications, websites, or removable media during the exam. Our facilities provide a total of 24 examination workstations.

Additionally, students may use our pools for "remote" (online) exams if they require a stable PC workstation on-site.

In addition to purely digital exams, we also support the implementation of digital scanned exams. Detailed information on this procedure can be found here:

Information for Instructors

We offer extensive experience in consulting on the design and management of e-exams. We are happy to advise you on digital scanned exams as well as other formats using multiple-choice (MCQ) methods.

Instructors are requested to contact the EPC / Competence Center E-Learning (CCE) early on for planning and requirements reporting. The team there coordinates the requirements across the faculties with the necessary lead time. Please note that the HF operates within fixed slots as part of a designated contingent.

Requests should ideally be submitted at the beginning of the respective semester, or preferably during the lecture-free period, as the computer rooms must be reserved and prepared specifically for the examination period.

Information for Students

This service is primarily intended for students of the faculty. If you have technical questions regarding the use of the pools (e.g., for remote exams), please feel free to contact us via email.
