Hardware and software

Room M01 provides students with 24 workstations equipped with 24-inch monitors. In addition to the 22 desktop workstations, there are two laptop workstations where students can charge their own devices and use them with a keyboard and mouse.
All PCs are equipped with height-adjustable chairs.

Room M01 provides students with 24 computers. The PCs have 16 GB of RAM and an I5 H235 CPU. The monitors are 24-inch 16:10 models.

All PCs are sequentially labeled (the first computer is named FSCIP01, the last FSCIP24) to make them easier to identify.

All PCs in the room are equipped with a comprehensive selection of software for student work, research, and teaching.

Use / Logging in to the PCs

Login to the computers is done directly in the AD domain using your student or staff account. The login credentials are therefore the same as those for Webmail, ILIAS, or Klips.

After successfully logging in, users of the computer pool automatically have access to the SOFS storage system of the University of Cologne.

  • All files saved by the user on the personalized drive letter S: remain accessible even after logging out of the computer. A user’s documents successfully saved on this drive are securely transferred to the SOFS cloud upon saving.
  • These files on the personalized SOFS drive can also be accessed from any other PC. We recommend conducting a topic-specific search on the RRZK website for more information.
  • Please note: All files saved on the desktop or in locations other than the SOFS drive will be deleted upon logging out to save space. Therefore, please use the SOFS drive labeled S: to back up your documents.

Note: Unfortunately, printing is NOT possible in the HF computer labs until further notice!

The previous service provider, Digitexx, did not have its contract renewed. Therefore, there is currently no campus-wide solution for student printing needs. (As of: 06/2026)
