Code of Conduct for the Department of Music

The Code of Conduct for the Department of Music, published in the spring of 2025, provides guidance for respectful interaction in teaching and in everyday university life.

The goal is for all faculty, staff, and students in the Department of Music to act in accordance with the Code to foster such a collaborative environment.

The Code raises awareness regarding respect and appreciation, professionalism and commitment, a respectful culture of dialogue, discrimination, proximity-distance dynamics, and responsible use of resources, and also addresses the specific circumstances of one-on-one instruction. Additionally, it provides information on counseling and support services.

The Code of Ethics for the Music Department was developed in collaboration with students from the music student councils, representatives of the artistic lecturers, full-time faculty members, and the Equal Opportunity Officer of the Faculty of Human Sciences at the University of Cologne. In April 2025, the Commission of the Department of Art and Music unanimously decided to support compliance with the Code.
