The broad spectrum of the discipline and the close connection between theory and practice in Music Mediation are effectively reflected at the University of Cologne through the collaboration between the Department of Music Education, the Institute for European Musicology, and the Institute for Musicology.
Through this unique collaboration, the dual-major bachelor’s program in Music Mediation imparts fundamental competencies in the fields of musicology, music practice, and music education, as well as essential academic and practice-oriented knowledge regarding methods and formats of Music Mediation. The Master’s program in Music Mediation allows students to specialize in the professional, target-group-specific teaching of music, as well as to deepen their methodologically guided reflection and individual academic research.
