Master's thesis with a focus on rehabilitation of people with mental disabilities (PSY)

In the master's thesis, students should demonstrate that they are able to work independently on a topic from the subject area of the subject within a given time limit using scientific methods and in a clear presentation of the findings.

The master's thesis can be written in connection with any of the modules in the subject. The processing time is six months. The prerequisite for writing the master's thesis is the completion of at least three basic modules. Registration with the examination office is required to write the master's thesis.

The master's thesis can address various problems in the rehabilitation of people with mental disabilities. The standardization of the application of the ICF offers considerable scope for research. We know little about indicators and predictors of curative and rehabilitative treatment approaches. In the course of implementing complex services, we can now say little about the extent to which effective forms of counseling in cross-sector and cross-jurisdictional care may have a significant share in the treatment and rehabilitation outcome. This leads to a paradigm shift, as biomedical methods of psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy are supplemented by the area of case management. This means that every step in the course of study is linked to healthcare facilities in a practice-oriented manner, and numerous collaborations with service providers and medical treatment facilities are offered.

Colloquium:

A colloquium is offered every 14 days to supervise master's theses and doctorates. Here, the topic of the work is initially presented by the individual students - with the help of a PowerPoint presentation - in order to discuss and work out the next step.

The focus area 'Rehabilitation of people with mental impairments (PSY)' has the following master's theses to be awarded in the following research focus areas:

1. Research focus: Is the Danish health and social system a model for Germany?

Possible topic for a master's thesis: Rehabilitation of homelessness

Preventing homelessness in the case of mental disorders is a current topic in the psychiatric dialogue. Which reforms of cross-sector and cross-jurisdictional cooperation should be recommended to the legislator?

The master's thesis should...

1. Describe the connection between mental disorders and psychiatric illnesses.

2. Compare model projects in Germany with the structures of the model project on homelessness of the regional psychiatry in Copenhagen.

3. The conclusions of the thesis should be an aid for the psychiatric dialogue.

2. Research focus: Implementation of the ICF

Possible topic for a master's thesis: Application of the ICF in people with PTSD

Participation reports are a valuable basis for depicting how the ICF is applied in mental disorders.

The aim of the thesis is to analyze which damage to the function and structure components and impairments to the activity and participation components exist in people with PTSD. Which contextual factors are relevant for describing functional health?

Due to the extensive material, the work can also be completed by two students.
