Psychotraumatology

Welcome to our research focus!

Psychotraumatology – research, teaching & practice

Our working group specializes in psychotraumatology and works closely with national and international partners. We conduct research, teach, and develop practical concepts in the following areas:

  • Treatment of psychotraumatic disorders such as (complex) PTSD, dissociative disorders, and variants of depressive and somatoform disorders, as well as addiction disorders
  • Rehabilitation of the aforementioned trauma-related disorders
  • Trauma-informed care – trauma-sensitive work in therapy, nursing, and social work
  • Psychosocial emergency care in disasters, accidents, and crisis situations

Our goal: To strengthen the mental health of those affected in the long term – through scientifically based trauma therapy, effective crisis intervention, and comprehensive care concepts.

In the master's program in rehabilitation sciences, we focus on the rehabilitation of people with mental impairments and refer to this link: https://dhr-studium.uni-koeln.de/studienangebot-am-dhr/reha-ma/rehabilitation-von-menschen-mit-psychischen-beeintraechtigungen
