Dr. Thorsten Hippe studied Education and Social Sciences at Bielefeld University, where he obtained his PhD in 2009 on the transdisciplinary integration of social sciences teaching methodologies. His main areas of focus in teaching and research at the University of Cologne are, from a social sciences perspective, environmental policy and environmental economics, economic policy and social policy; and, from an social sciences educational perspective, Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), financial literacy, the principle of controversy, and the didactic integration of the social sciences.
