Growing older in a healthy and qualified manner in the automotive industry – participation and inclusion from the start (PINA)
In view of demographic changes and the associated increase in the retirement age, the proportion of older employees in companies will continue to rise in the next few years. Accordingly, more and more companies are asking themselves how they can help maintain the health and ability to work of employees.
What will be crucial here will be a work and personnel policy that takes the course of working life into account and orients related operational areas of action, such as work organization, workplace and working time design, qualification, health promotion, personnel development and career planning. There are already various approaches for this. However, there is so far little knowledge about the extent of implementation, especially when it comes to the interlinking of the measures and processes.
The aim of the cooperation project running from September 2011 to August 2014 between the Institute for Ergonomics at TU Darmstadt (IAD) and the Chair for Work and Vocational Rehabilitation at the University of Cologne is to examine current age management using the example of the automotive industry to identify successful concepts and further develop them with the companies involved into a practical and transferable overall model. In addition to networking the operational actors and processes, the focus is also on the interfaces to external actors in prevention and rehabilitation, such as health insurance companies, accident and pension insurance companies.
Adam Opel AG, Audi AG, Daimler AG with the Mercedes-Benz Mannheim plant and the subsidiary Evobus GmbH, Dr. Ing. h.c.F. Porsche AG, Ford Works GmbH and Volkswagen AG are involved, and Robert Bosch GmbH from the supplier industry is involved. The project is also supported by the German automotive industry's working group representing severely disabled people.
Interim results are regularly reported in the INQA-TIKs “Production” and “30-40-50 plus - aging in employment” as well as in other forums. Current information is also available at: http://www.pina-projekt.de
