Interview - Barriers
The first question that arises when discussing the term “accessibility” is likely what specific barriers need to be overcome. Below are some quotes from interviews with participants in the ADHD training program that address this aspect. Particular emphasis was placed on the challenges of everyday university life.
"Well, my difficulties are actually, I think, not really related to everyday life but to my studies."
"... that I have a hard time concentrating ... I also found it difficult to do my homework, to somehow come up with a plan for myself, and to listen to friends for longer periods of time. ... this problem became more acute during my time at university because you have to do a lot more mental work here."
"... I have trouble paying full attention during a lecture."
"... after a few minutes, I eventually lose track of what’s being said and stop listening.
"... I distract other people ..."
"... when I’m supposed to study at home, getting started and finishing things on time."
"... even getting started on things that need to be done urgently."
