Accessibility Project: ADHD

As a student of special education at the University of Cologne, you hear and read a lot about ADHD. But are there also students with ADHD, and how do they cope with their daily university life? In this project, we want to explore this question and determine whether and to what extent these students can be helped or are already being helped.

After initial research, we came across the University of Cologne’s “Training for Students with ADHD” project and were able to film a group of participants over the course of six sessions as part of the project. Initial enthusiasm on both sides was followed by skepticism regarding publication on the internet, so it was decided not to publish the filmed videos on this website. We understand and respect this decision and will therefore limit ourselves to a purely textual presentation of the filmed videos. We nevertheless hope that the quotes provided will offer some insight into the project’s work.

Outline

After an initial definition of ADHD, we would like to discuss ADHD in adulthood and ADHD at the university, specifically focusing on the training for students with ADHD: Here, we will present three key sessions of the training as examples. To facilitate a deeper exploration of the issue, we will conclude by providing various links and literature recommendations intended to facilitate further searches for support and research, even beyond the scope of the University of Cologne.
