AmiChro Transfer

Implementation and Communication Strategies for Self-Help Groups and Workplace Stakeholders

Background

AmiChro-Transfer builds on the AmiChro project. It is based on the digital guide “Working While Sick—Yes or No?” developed as part of AmiChro. Employees with chronic illnesses are supported in making health-conscious decisions in their daily work, and companies receive helpful guidance.

Project Objectives

The project aims to raise awareness of the (digital) guide. The goal is to raise awareness among companies about how to address chronic illnesses, while also supporting self-help organizations in discussing the topic of “Working with a Chronic Illness” within their groups. To this end, a communication strategy is being developed, supporting materials are being created, and advocates are being recruited—at three levels:

  • Self-help level
  • The level of companies and organizations
  • Level of politics and decision-makers

Implementation

Implementation will take place through three overarching areas of action:

  • Needs Assessment and Networking: Digital expert panels to identify needs from the perspectives of businesses and self-help groups, as well as specialized events for networking and recruiting advocates
  • Knowledge dissemination and material development: Publications in (specialized) journals, additional (digital) materials for concise knowledge transfer, as well as interactive webinars and workshops to raise awareness and facilitate the exchange of experiences
  • Public Relations and Policy Contextualization: Dissemination of brief information via social media, as well as a position paper to clarify the need for action and funding

The data collected in the project will also be used for further scientific analyses, the results of which will be published in academic journals.

Project Details

The project is being carried out in cooperation between the University of Cologne and BAG Selbsthilfe and builds directly on the findings of the AmiChro project, which was implemented from 2023 to 2025 with funding from the BKK umbrella organization.
