Work – yes or no? The pros and cons in everyday working life for people with chronic illnesses
Objectives
The project “Work – yes or no?” deals both scientifically and practically with the everyday work of people with chronic illnesses. Factors for health-friendly and health-promoting work should be analyzed and worked out in a practical manner. One focus of the project is to analyze the extent to which working despite feeling ill can be a health risk or an opportunity for participation for employees with chronic illnesses. The project is intended to contribute to the overarching goal of improving everyday working life for people with chronic illnesses.
1. Systematic literature search
First, a systematic literature search is carried out with the aim of gaining scientific knowledge on the central project questions. The results are prepared and discussed in a scientific and self-help context.
2. Survey of employees with chronic illnesses
Exploratory surveys are carried out with employees with chronic illnesses. An online survey examines, among other things, health-promoting and health-inhibiting factors of working with chronic illnesses as well as decision-making behavior in everyday life for or against work.
3. Development of a digital action aid for companies
Based on the findings of the systematic literature research and the survey carried out, a digital action aid for companies is being developed. This is intended to raise awareness of chronic illnesses in the world of work and how to deal with them in a health-friendly manner and is aimed primarily at company representatives with personnel responsibility or a connection to the target group (including managers, human resources staff, representatives of the severely disabled, and the employer's inclusion representatives).
4. Focus group to improve the quality of action aid
The pilot version of the action aid will be discussed in a focus group with representatives of the target group (including managers, HR managers, representatives of the severely disabled) and employees with chronic illnesses in order to ensure the quality of the action aid and increase acceptance among those involved. The action guide will be revised and finalized according to the results of the discussion.
5. Public relations work to spread the digital action aid
The product is intended to be presented and disseminated in both a scientific and, in particular, practical and self-help context.
