Information and guidance on open educational resources
Open Educational Resources (OER) are educational materials of any kind and in any medium that are published under an open license, such as a Creative Commons license. An open license replaces traditional copyright, thereby enabling free access to the material, as well as free use, adaptation, and redistribution by others. OER include images, graphics, textbooks, curricula, course designs, lecture notes, assignments, tests, projects, and audio, video, and animation formats.
The Media Network offers faculty a comprehensive advisory service on OER. On the OERinForm website, instructors can learn how to find, use, create, and share OER.
In addition, media centers and other service units have access to a wide range of informational and communication materials that they can use for OER consulting at their own institutions.
Our OER expert, Ms. Vildan Cetin, is available for personal consultations. She has been offering a seminar on OER for students for several semesters and is regularly booked for OER workshops by other units at the University of Cologne, such as the Learning Workshop and the ZFL.
