I have general questions about the Master's programme. Can the chair's office or student assistants' office answer them?
No. The university has dedicated advisory services for general questions. Depending on your concern, these are the Central Student Advisory Service, the Centre for Teacher Education (ZfL) or the Student Service Centre (SSC) Special Education. Please consult their websites to find the right contact quickly. We also recommend familiarising yourself with the module handbook and the examination regulations.

I did not get a place in a particular Master's course via KLIPS. Can I still take part?
Possibly. We want your studies to run smoothly, but we cannot always meet every request. Places are allocated via KLIPS. If you did not get a place in your preferred course, you may still attend the first session; any remaining places are then allocated using the KLIPS waiting list. A place cannot be guaranteed, and we sometimes have to ask students to wait until the next semester.

A Master's course is offered more than once. Can I switch between groups?
Possibly, if you find someone to swap with. Otherwise, you will be treated in the first session like students who did not receive a place and may be allocated a place from the waiting list. A place cannot be guaranteed. If you receive a place this way, please make sure to deregister from your original course.

I cannot attend the first session of a Master's course. Can I keep my place?
Yes, under certain conditions. Attendance at the first session is compulsory, and students who do not attend lose their place. For valid reasons (e.g. illness), you may excuse yourself by e-mail to the lecturer. This must be done before the first session begins, as free places are allocated to students on the waiting list at the start of the course.

Can I take the courses of one module in different semesters?
Yes. However, content from both courses is relevant to the module examination, and it is your responsibility to find out about the current content and requirements. Submitting both course certificates before the module examination ensures that you have taken both courses.

I am a Bachelor's student. Can I attend Master's courses?
No. Courses in the Master's programme in learning disabilities are reserved for Master's students. The ZfL sometimes grants provisional admission to the Master's programme on application. If you have received provisional admission and have been allocated a place in one of our courses via KLIPS 2.0, you must show the lecturer all documents required for final admission by the second session at the latest, without being asked. Otherwise, you cannot take part.

I have been provisionally admitted to the Master's programme although a Bachelor's grade has not yet been recorded. Will my Master's credits be recognised if I am moved back to the Bachelor's programme because of failed examinations?
No. Applying to the ZfL for provisional admission is at your own risk. If you are moved back to the Bachelor's programme, the Master's programme must be started again from the beginning.

Can I write my Bachelor's thesis with a member of the chair?
No. The chair is responsible for the Master's programme in learning disabilities and therefore supervises Master's theses only.

Can I write my Master's thesis with a member of the chair?

Should I check promptly whether my credits have been recorded correctly?
Yes. Credits are recorded no later than three months after the module examination, usually much earlier. Despite the very large number of examinations, recording almost always works without problems, but errors can occasionally occur. Please check your records as soon as they appear; the later we receive a complaint, the harder it is to reconstruct what happened.

I have a specific question about an upcoming module examination. Whom should I contact?
The member of our team responsible for the module (see Team). Before doing so, please try to find the answer on our website, in the module handbook or in the examination regulations.

Can I borrow tests or support materials from the chair?
No. Tests are available from the test library of the Faculty of Human Sciences, and support materials, for example, from the Lernwerkstatt.

I need the chair holder to sign a test library form so that I can borrow a test for my Master's thesis or my project in the practical semester. Can I get the signature quickly?
Yes. Simply come to our secretary's office during opening hours; there is no need to call or e-mail in advance.
