CONDITIONS FOR PARTICIPATION AND BARRIERS IN EDUCATION AND HEALTH
With a focus on inclusion, the network turns its attention to people who are labeled as having “severe disabilities” and examines the conditions and barriers to social participation. The focus is on conceptual clarifications, interdisciplinary perspectives, and methodological questions, particularly with regard to participatory research.

RESEARCH QUESTIONS
The network addresses three interrelated sets of questions
- What are the implications of the label “severe disability,” and what consequences does this have for participation?
- What significance does access to education have for participation, and what opportunities and barriers exist?
- What are the interactions between health, maintaining health, and participation?
RESEARCH OBJECTIVES
- Basic research and conceptual clarification
- Analysis of barriers to participation with a focus on education and health
- Establishment of interdisciplinary collaborations and externally funded initiatives
- Further development of methodology and methods with a view to participatory research
- Supporting early-career researchers through regular exchanges among doctoral candidates.
