Education
2017-2025: PhD in musicology with a thesis on "Music and Forced Migration. A Qualitative Study of Musical Practices of Refugees in Berlin" at Humboldt University of Berlin. Primary supervisor: Prof. Dr. Sebastian Klotz (Chair of Transcultural Musicology and Historical Anthropology of Music, Humboldt University in Berlin), secondary supervisor: Prof. Dr. Tiago de Oliveira Pinto (UNESCO Chair on Transcultural Music Studies, University of Music Franz Liszt Weimar).
2012-2016: Master's degree in Musicology at Humboldt University of Berlin.
2009-2012: Bachelor's degree in Music and Media with a minor in German Linguistics at Humboldt University of Berlin and Newcastle University.
Professional activity:
Since 2025: Assistant professor for ethnomusicology with a focus on "Music and Migration" at the University of Cologne.
2024-2025: Postdoctoral researcher at Paris Lodron University of Salzburg with a subproject on international music networks and cultural policy in Germany and Austria between 1930 and 1950 as part of the Austrian-German research project “PopPrints. The Production of Popular Music in Austria and Germany 1930-1950,” funded by the FWF and the DFG.
2024-2025: Project manager for the project "Musikalische Stolpersteine" (Musical Stumbling Blocks) at the Berlin State Music Council.
2024: Assistant Director at the Center for World Music at the University of Hildesheim Foundation.
2022-2024: Research assistant and lecturer at the UNESCO Chair on Transcultural Music Studies at the University of Music Franz Liszt Weimar.
2021: Research group leader of an X-Student Research Group at the Berlin University Alliance.
In addition, numerous teaching assignments at various universities, freelance work as a musician and music educator, and work as a podcaster for the podcast “Musikgespräch.”
