The Library

Opening hours

Our library is a reference library and currently contains approximately 32.000 volumes, deposita and special prints. Dedicated sections of the library deal with folk song research and folk song collections from the German-speaking countries (general publications but also specialized literature on specific geographical areas and genres such as workers' songs, childrens' songs, custom songs, choral organizations, school songs). It furthermore contains:

•    Folklore Studies
•    National Socialism
•    Music and Politics
As the content of the library is currently not yet available through the official database of the university library, we have made the library database available as a table in html-version contained in the file "Materialien").

The Archive

contains a monographic archive of songs, a media archive (dedicated sections are e.g. Song, Folk Music, Children's Songs, Neues Geistliches Lied; Magnetic Tapes as well as Video recordings of local amateur music activities), journals (e.g. Folk, Songlines, Jugendmusikbewegung, Laienmusizieren) and inheritances.
