Project on the Topic of "Accessibility"

As part of our project on the topic of “Accessibility,” we—three students in the special education teacher training program—visited the information, training, and counseling center called barrierefrei kommunizieren! in Bonn-Beuel. This facility is operated by the Technische Jugenfreizeit- und Bildungsgesellschaft (tjfbg gGmbH); in addition to Bonn, there is another location for the barrierefrei kommunizieren! project in Berlin. The project focuses on modern information and communication technologies and the professional and social integration of people with and without disabilities using these technologies.

During our visit to the facility in Bonn, we had the opportunity to try out and learn more about various assistive devices that primarily help people with physical and motor impairments use computers. In our project work, we aim to demonstrate the possibilities for using a computer—even with a disability.

Specifically, in our project we will introduce several assistive technologies and present our experiences with them in the form of videos or photos.

In an interview with the project manager and another staff member from the organization "barrierefrei kommunizieren!", the scope of work and the focus of the project are explained in more detail.

We spent a very interesting and informative morning at "barrierefrei kommunizieren!" and would like to share our experiences and insights with you.
