DeafSpace@Campus
“DeafSpace@Campus – Informationen in Deutscher Gebärdensprache (DGS) für alle” is an inclusive project aimed at breaking down communication barriers between deaf and hearing members of the university community and creating a sign language-friendly university environment. Through bilingual DGS/German videos on Deaf culture, everyday phrases, and vocabulary—which will be made available via information screens on the campus of the Faculty of Human Sciences and in the building at Klosterstraße 79b—Deaf awareness, visual communication, and multilingualism will be visibly strengthened in everyday university life.
The project has been running since March 2026 and is being implemented jointly by the Chairs of Didactics and Pedagogy for People with Hearing Impairments (focus on Sign Language) (Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Mann) and of Interpreting: DGS–German (Prof. Dr. Pamela Perniss) in collaboration with the Media Network.
