Pb-Kus – Education during illness and hospital school education

Pb-Kus – Education during illness and hospital school education is an international cooperation project with the aim of developing and establishing sound training and further education in the field of education during illness (PbK) in German-speaking countries (Germany, Austria, Switzerland). It responds to the growing need for structured educational opportunities for children and young people with chronic illnesses, mental health issues, or prolonged hospital stays, and pursues an evidence-based professionalization of hospital school education.

The project is funded by Movetia (the Swiss National Agency for Exchange and Mobility) and will run from 2023 to 2025. The project is led by Dr. Robert Langnickel (PH Lucerne / PH Ludwigsburg).

Prof. Dr. Sophia Falkenstörfer headed the Chair of Education for Physical and Complex Disabilities at Julius Maximilian University of Würzburg until April 30, 2025. Under her leadership, JMU was an official cooperation partner in the international project network. As part of the follow-up application planned for 2025, Prof. Dr. Falkenstörfer will continue the project cooperation through her current chair at the University of Cologne.
