Elaborating Digital Supported Education Networks in Social Space (DILABoration)

(in co-operation with the Institute for Information Management Bremen GmbH (ifib) and the M2C Institute for Applied Media Research GmbH Bremen, funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), 2021-2024) (start: 01.11.2021)

The socio-spatial segregation in German cities particularly disadvantages the socially deprived residents of certain neighborhoods. DILABoration focuses on education and participation of socially disadvantaged target groups in urban social areas with special development needs within the framework of the "Digital Impact Lab". In a disadvantaged district of Bremen, non-formal and participatory educational offers for young people are to be expanded by means of digital methods and the networking of various local actors. Within the framework of the project, the offers will be evaluated by means of a multi-level analysis with different qualitative-empirical approaches and co-creative conceptual approaches will be (further) developed and tested. The aim is to identify the conditions for success that enable the participation of disadvantaged youth in education in heterogeneous neighborhoods and to reconstruct them on an organizational and subjective level. In addition, a transfer concept for other communities and districts will be developed. A digital tool to be created will support the transfer by analyzing on administrative and agency level which existing structures can be used and where additions have to be made in order to create a lab that reflects diverging social space references and generates sustainable education and exchange. The suitability of the concept will be tested at several locations during the project.
The subproject at the University of Cologne "Reconstruction of Participation Conditions in the Digitized Educational Arrangements" is responsible in particular for focused ethnographies in the everyday pedagogical life of the Digital Impac Lab, situation and artifact analyses, group discussions with the participants, coordinates the research workshops in the collaborative project, and works closely with the two other collaborative partners within the framework of the other work packages of the project.
