SongwrAIting
Advancing digitalization and rapid technological change are placing new demands on teachers and underlining the relevance of contemporary music education. In particular, the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the classroom opens up new didactic and creative possibilities, but also requires a well-founded examination of opportunities, challenges and ethical issues. The creative use of AI is becoming increasingly important in music lessons at school, particularly in the area of songwriting. Initial scientific and practice-oriented approaches show that AI-supported creative processes both promote students' artistic expression and enable teachers to use new methodological and didactic approaches. At the same time, there is a need for concrete training courses that systematically prepare and test the use of AI-based tools in music lessons.
The “SongwrAIting” workshop was developed with this in mind. It is aimed at teachers, trainers and multipliers who want to integrate creative AI applications into music lessons and further develop their media education and digital skills.During the workshop, participants will receive a practical overview of AI tools and their potential for different phases of songwriting. In a guided work phase, they will use the browser-based applications AIVA and fobizz as well as the music app GarageBand to create their own song with a cover image. The developed task formats have already been successfully tested in a high school class, a music didactics university seminar and in various teacher training courses. Participants will need an iPad with the GarageBand app and a free account for the browser-based applications AIVA and fobizz.
The workshop is designed and evaluated as part of the BMBF project COMeARTS Musik.
