Digital Teaching at the University of Cologne
On this page, we list some options available to you as a lecturer for making your courses available online. This is only an initial compilation, which will be expanded to include additional options in the coming days.
You basically have two options. You can record your lectures in segments, upload them to the ILIAS system, and then have students work through them “as-recorded.” Or you can use a live platform to interact with your students “as usual.” When publishing presentations, you should also keep a few legal considerations in mind.
1. "Asynchronous" online teaching with ILIAS
Record presentations and upload them to ILIAS. Alternatively, you can assign presentations; students record their presentations at home and upload them to ILIAS. We’ll show you how this works on this page.
2. "Live" online teaching with ZOOM
The online platform ZOOM is a commercial service that allows you to hold video meetings with your staff, conduct seminars with students, and even deliver entire lectures live. Here you will find information on how to use the platform for your purposes.
3. Legal considerations for publishing presentations.
Depending on where you post your results online, you should ensure that you own the rights to all images, etc. If you are unsure, you can find information on how to make your presentation legally compliant on this page.
In addition, the Hochschulforum Digitalisierung provides a comprehensive and regularly updated overview of tools for digital teaching.
