Southeast Europe Association

Since July 1st of 2018, the direction of the Cologne branch of the Southeast Europe Association - SOG Munich (https://www.sogde.org/) – one of the major mediating organisations for the Southeast European area in the German-speaking countries – is located at the Institute for European Ethnomusicology. The Southeast Europe Association is institutionally supported by the German Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Since its establishment in 1952, the SOG has accumulated over 800 members, and has been an important liaison organization for German foreign policy, but also engages in the economic and cultural dialogue with the countries of Southeast Europe. Lectures, events and exhibitions are organized in cooperation with local partners such as the Lew Kopolew Forum e.V., Deutsche Welle and the Europa-Union Deutschland. In addition, the annual International University Weeks in Tutzing provide a platform for young researchers to promote their scientific work and establish exchange with international expert colleagues.
