Dear freshmen,

We are pleased to welcome you to the Intermedia study program. In order to help you orient your start of studies before the beginning of the first semester in October 2025, we have compiled some basic information on this page to help you plan your first semester. If you have any further questions, please contact the coordinator of the study program, Ms. Christina Vollmert.

First steps 
At the beginning of your studies at the UofC it is important that you familiarize yourself with our digital tools. First and foremost, you need to activate your student account and familiarize yourself with KLIPS and ILIAS. You can find detailed instructions on the  first-semester-student portal. Be sure to also use the online tool LOTSE: Here you will find basic information on how to register for courses, how to use KLIPS, how to find your way around campus, and many other useful tips for a successful start to your studies.

How do I create my semesters' timetable? 
Basically, the following applies: To participate in the individual courses, you must apply via KLIPS. You will learn how to do this in detail at the introductory event. A basic introduction to the system is offered by the central student advisory service; furthermore, you will find detailed click instructions online. If you have general questions about using Klips, please contact the Klips support team. 


Which courses do I have to take?  
The module manual (BA / MA )  specifies which course you have to take at which point of your studies. In principle, you are free to choose your desired courses. However, it is recommended that you choose the following courses

in your first Bachelor Semester: 

  • Basismodul 1 – 1 x Introductory lecture, 1 x Tutorium
  • Basismodul 2 – 1x Lecture „Statistik für Erziehungswissenschaftlerinnen"
  • Basismodul 3 – 1x Seminar "Grundlegende Methoden der Kunst" + 1x Seminar at your choice ( Programmtechnische Basiskenntnisse OR Basis Praxis Kunst Fokus Medien)
  • Basismodul 4 – 1x Lecture "Einführung in die Medienpädagogik", 1x Seminar (at your choice)
  • Basismodul 5 – 1x Lecture "Einführung in die Medienästhetik", 1x Seminar (at your choice)
  • Studium Integrale – 1x Course (Seminar or Lecture etc) from the university-wide offer (at your choice)

in your first Master Semester: 

  • 3 seminars out of the Basis Modules
  • 1 seminar of the Aufbau Modules
  • 1 lecture of the Ergänzungsmodul 
  • (plus courses in your 2nd study subject)

In the third week September, the Student Service Center (SSC) will be offering first-semester students information on all aspects of organizing their studies. This is mainly information that is relevant before the start of your studies and should make it easier for you to start your studies. Further information and a program can be found here.

Our Q&A about your start in the intermedia study program will take place on 22.09.2025, 17h, via Zoom. 

Welcome Week 
The welcome events at the start of the semester take place in the first sessions of the two introductory lectures:
Bachelor Einführungsvorlesung | 14.10.25, 14 Uhr, in Aula 3
Master Ringvorlesung | 14.10.25, 18 Uhr, im THEATER
