What is inquiry-based learning?
Inquiry-based learning involves developing, investigating, and reflecting on practical questions. This helps students develop methodological skills. It also fosters a deeper engagement with pedagogical knowledge.
You will be offered innovative teaching formats that enable active and independent work. Inquiry-based learning is an important prerequisite for inclusive education and thus contributes to the professional development of future teachers.
What is a research class?
In a research class, 20–25 students meet once a week to discuss their research projects. The research projects are based on the modules and components of the curriculum.
Goal: Inclusive University School (IUS)
Students in the research class can participate in the development of the IUS and contribute their experiences there, for example as tutors.
Students in the research class
- study together for two semesters,
- freely select up to four building blocks from the modules,
- work on a selected research project,
- present their project and results in a research colloquium,
- and exchange ideas in an accompanying research workshop.
All coursework completed as part of the curriculum will be credited toward the regular teacher education program.
What do we expect?
- You are enrolled in a teacher education program.
- You are interested in research on teaching, schools, and inclusive education.
- You are interested in trying your hand at research.
- You enjoy working in a team.
Who can participate?
The research class begins in the winter semester of 2012/13 and accepts participants from teacher training programs for elementary school, secondary school (Haupt- and Realschule), high school (Gymnasium/Gesamtschule), and special education.
