The "Netzwerk Medien" produces a variety of films for the faculty.

The Center’s Film Production Department provides consulting, develops concepts, and produces, among other things, educational films, interviews, promotional videos, and green-screen recordings, often in collaboration with academic departments within the faculty and the university. Students are typically actively involved in these projects.

This service is also available to other departments at the University of Cologne and for third-party funded projects for a separate fee, provided the necessary resources are available.

"Please note the following information regarding third-party funded projects:

If a media production service from the Media Network is to be utilized for a third-party funded project, the Media Network must receive appropriate compensation for the work performed from the project funds. Therefore, we ask that you list all desired media services from the Media Network before submitting the project proposal so that available resources can be checked, a quote for the respective services can be prepared, and you can include this as an item in your project budget."

The field of film production also introduces students to the use of digital video, animation, and distribution technology. The course offerings provide students with the opportunity to acquire practical skills in the use of audiovisual media.

These are integrated into the module “Use of Media in Inclusive Education” (MA) of the teacher training program.
In addition, specialized courses are offered for students and staff on the operation of audiovisual media (camera, studio, and editing techniques).
