Welcome to the Website of the Department of Art and Music!

The Department of Art and Music is characterized by close interdisciplinary cooperation between the two subjects. The cooperation in research and teaching focuses on the connection between arts, media and education. The focus of the common interest is the question of how social transformation processes can be affected and shaped - for example, with regard to changed aesthetic educational processes, artistic (media) practices and questions of music and migration. In the three teacher training programs and two specialized programs offered by the Department of Art and Music, the academic profile is closely linked to practical artistic studies and research.

We offer five degree programs at the Department of Art and Music: The teacher training programs (Bachelor of Art, Master of Education) in Aesthetic Education, Art and Music, and the study programs (Bachelor of Art, Master of Art) in Intermedia and Music Education. On the right, under the tab Study Programs, you will find further information on the respective programs, lecturers, current events and the student councils.

The Institute for European Ethnomusicology as a research institution is also part of the Department of Art and Music.
