INCLUSION FOR PEOPLE WITH COMPLEX DISABILITIES, TOO!
People with complex disabilities are still excluded from participation in various areas of life, and designing appropriate services often poses a challenge for educational professionals. The LINKED research project, a collaboration between the University of Cologne and the University of Oldenburg, aims to address the insufficient opportunities for participation among this group and to not only identify but also highlight existing “beacons of success” in practice. Specifically, we aim to focus on the areas of work, leisure, and housing, and to identify existing concepts and services nationwide that already enable meaningful participation in these areas for people with complex disabilities. In addition to highlighting these “beacon moments” from practice via the “Quality Initiative for Participation Research” web portal, we also aim to identify criteria for designing participation-oriented services for people with complex disabilities in order to develop a “Guide to Designing Participation-Oriented Services for People with Complex Disabilities.” This guide will consolidate practical knowledge and thus facilitate and enable the creation of participation-oriented services for this group.

METHODOLOGICAL APPROACH

As part of the project, a multi-step, triangulatory approach was developed,
which includes, among other things, two phases of engagement with practitioners.
