To understand the needs and challenges, we surveyed over 100 students at the University of Cologne about their study situation and technical circumstances. The survey highlights the relevance of our project.

1. Studying without a laptop is not feasible for most students:

We see potential for significantly improving digital equality at the university with our project.

To find out how many devices are no longer needed in the individual departments at the University of Cologne, we surveyed the university's chairs.

1. At 88%, the willingness of departments to donate to the Computer ReUse project is very high.

2. In the survey, over 50% of departments stated that they have laptops/PCs that are no longer needed.

3. 24 laptops, 28 PCs, and 27 monitors are potentially available for the Computer ReUse project.
